Peanut butter pie is a creamy and delicious dessert! What's also great about this particular pie is that it is no bake. 🙂
You can also dress up this peanut butter pie by adding chocolate chips and drizzling some melted peanut butter on top.

Seriously, how could you resist a dessert this good?
Peanut Butter Pie FAQ
It's made of a combination of cream cheese, peanut butter, cool whip (or whipped cream), and powdered sugar. Once you whip everything together, put it into a graham cracker crust or even a chocolate crust.
Yes! This no bake peanut butter pie is best if frozen and then thawed about an hour before you are ready to serve.
Creamy is what we always use, but crunchy will work too!
Instead of using 16 oz of Cool Whip, you can replace this with 8 oz of heavy whipping cream. Also, you might want to whip this up to thick peaks first before you add it to the rest of the ingredients.
What you need to make peanut butter pie
1 cup powdered sugar
1 8oz package cream cheese
1 cup creamy peanut butter
1 16oz container of cool whip
1 (9 inch) graham cracker crust
How to make this no bake pie
The first step in making this peanut butter pie is to add the powdered sugar and cream cheese into a mixing bowl. You will then want to whip the two together for at least 3-5 minutes or until creamy in texture.
The next step is adding in the creamy peanut butter. Again, you will want to mix this for a few minutes. It will resemble that of a peanut butter cookie dough.
The final step to making this peanut butter pie is to add in the cool whip. Start out by adding in half of the container. When this has been mixed thoroughly, add in the other half of the cool whip.
Scoop the mixture into a graham cracker crust. You can serve right away or referigerate it for an hour to make the slices come out easier!
(Optional) If you are really wanted to wow your guests, you can melt some peanut butter and drizzle it on top of a slice of peanut butter pie. Also, you can top it with some chocolate chips!

This is fantastic. I made 2 for a church dinner & they were gone b4 I could get a pc. I used a oreo crust & drizzled ice cream caramel sauce on top. Yummy!!!

Can I use low fat cream cheese? I have some on hand I should use up
Joanna Stephens
Absolutely! I've made this peanut butter pie with regular and low fat cream cheese in the past. Hope you enjoy the recipe Cathy!
Rich
This time I used a pretzel crust instead of graham cracker crust. It was great.
Bryn
Do you think I can do this in a springform pan?
Joanna Stephens
If you use a springform pan, you will probably want to freeze it and then remove it from the pan. At room temperature, I don't think it would come out as cleanly.

I just made 3 of these peanut butter pies for a summer cookout. This recipe is SO simple yet it tastes SO good. All 3 pies were in the refrigerator within an hour. I was in no hurry so it could’ve been done faster. (I sent a few texts and had a short phone conversation.) I easily rate this recipe 5 stars!

I just made this, and got it in the fridge. The one nice thing. is I get to lick the bowl.

I was interested and happy to see this post I have been making this pie since I stumbled on it around 2007. It is always a hHUGE hit. You can make it different by trying different crusts. I’ve always made a homemade vanilla wafer crust.
Kathy
This is a great base for a lot of different no bake pies. I too used less cool whip and a little less peanut butter. Once it was all mixed I folded in a 5oz bag of Heath Bar desert toping. The variations are endless such as chocolate graham cracker crust with Reeses cup topping, Snickers topping and on and on. This is a keeper!
Mimi
Hi Kathy! How much did you actually use of the whip cream and peanut butter?
Phyllis Louise Reeves
Made this no bake pie, used homemade whipped cream, and then used vanilla wafers for the crust. Was absolutely fantastic! Vanilla wafer crust was great! It cut and served better than any graham cracker crust ever has.
Sarah
How did you make the vanilla wafer crust?

Next time, I’ll need to make two. Our kids and grands descended on their slices with abandon. The only sounds I heard were moans of happiness.
Sheena
Can u make it and freeze it ahead a time?
Joanna Stephens
Yes! Just defrost it in the refrigerator about an hour before you are ready to serve it.

Easy yummy dessert
Jen
Hi can I use chunky pb, that’s all I have on had & this looks so yummy
Thank you
Joanna Stephens
Hi Jen, yes you can use chunky peanut butter! My suggestion would be to work it with a spoon so it's fairly smooth when you mix it into the rest of the ingredients.
Jennifer
I did it! Turned out AH-mazinggg
Thank you for sharing 😊

Lorna
Made it 2 weeks ago, getting ready to make it again tomorrow. Outstanding, thank you for sharing!!!
Lorna
Made this no bake peanut butter pie today. It looks delicious and instead of drizzling peanut butter drizzling, I put mini chips inside as well as on top! Thanks for sharing 👍
Jess
This looks so delicious and I can't wait to try it! Can I use heavy cream instead of cool whip? Should I whip it up first?
Joanna Stephens
Hi Jess, heavy cream should work, but you will need about half as much. Since the recipe calls for 16oz of cool whip, you will need 8oz of heavy cream.
As far as whipping it up first, it would speed up the process, but you could add it directly in. It will just take longer to whip up to the right consistency. Hope this helps!

Before I put the peanut butter filling in the graham Cracker Crust, I took a jar of Hot Fudge Ice Cream topping heated it up in the microwave and put a layer of this over the bottom of the crust. I then placed it in the fridge to chill, then I put my peanut butter filling in the crust. Heat the fudge topping up again and drizzle over the top of the pie. This is really good.
Donna
I want to try this but I have a couple of questions.
Should the cream cheese be cold or room temperature?
Should the cool whip be right from the freezer or should it be let to defrost a bit in the refrigerator?
How long can this be kept in the refrigerator before serving? In other words can it be made the day before or the morning of?
Thank you,
Joanna Stephens
The cream cheese should be cold, but the cool whip should be in the refrigerator for at least a day. Frozen cool whip doesn't have the right consistency. As far as making it ahead of time, you can definitely make this the day before. I usually keep it in the finished pie in the freezer and then about 3 hours to serving, I place it in the refrigerator. Hope this helps Donna!
Donna
Oh dear, I of course have done the exact opposite and I need the desert for tonight.
Oh well! I'll have to fast track the cooling of the cool whip and hope for the best. 😬
Kathi
Super easy to make and oh so delicious. I added some mini chocolate chips to the filling prior to pouring into the pie crust. Then I drizzled some melted chocolate chips over the top - super yummy 😋. This will become a go to recipe when I need something quick!
Jenny
I just served this to my family. They all loved it. Thanks so much.

I was able to fill two chocolate pie shells for my daughter's fund raiser. It makes a lot of filling. I also topped my pies with some mini chocolate chips. I'm sure they will enjoy. Thank you!
