Peanut Butter Pie FAQ

What is peanut butter pie made of?

It's made of a combination of cream cheese, peanut butter, cool whip (or whipped cream), and powdered sugar. Once you whip everything together, put it into a graham cracker crust or even a chocolate crust.

Can you freeze no-bake pies?

Yes! This no bake peanut butter pie is best if frozen and then thawed about an hour before you are ready to serve.

What's the best peanut butter to use?

Creamy is what we always use, but crunchy will work too!

Can I use heavy whipping cream instead of cool whip?

Instead of using 16 oz of Cool Whip, you can replace this with 8 oz of heavy whipping cream. Also, you might want to whip this up to thick peaks first before you add it to the rest of the ingredients.

What you need to make peanut butter pie

1 cup powdered sugar

1 8oz package cream cheese

1 cup creamy peanut butter

1 16oz container of cool whip

1 (9 inch) graham cracker crust

How to make this no bake pie

The first step in making this peanut butter pie is to add the powdered sugar and cream cheese into a mixing bowl. You will then want to whip the two together for at least 3-5 minutes or until creamy in texture.

The next step is adding in the creamy peanut butter. Again, you will want to mix this for a few minutes. It will resemble that of a peanut butter cookie dough.

The final step to making this peanut butter pie is to add in the cool whip. Start out by adding in half of the container. When this has been mixed thoroughly, add in the other half of the cool whip.

Scoop the mixture into a graham cracker crust. You can serve right away or referigerate it for an hour to make the slices come out easier!

(Optional) If you are really wanted to wow your guests, you can melt some peanut butter and drizzle it on top of a slice of peanut butter pie. Also, you can top it with some chocolate chips!

I wonder how good this would be made with a chocolate cookie crust?

I've been using your recipe for a while. Crowd favorite and easy to make. I follow the recipe to a T. I like using store bought oreo crust and adding syrup on top. One of my no fail recipes.

Just wondering what size pie crust I should use for this?

I just use a 9 inch graham cracker crust. If you use a bigger crust the filling won't be as high.

Do I need to have the cream cheese at room temperature? Does the cool whip need to be defrosted in the fridge? Going to make this for Thanksgiving tomorrow!

Hi Crystal, you will definitely want the cool whip in the refrigerator. The cream cheese can be at room temperature but isn't necessary (it might just take longer to mix the cream cheese and the powdered sugar together.)

Yep, it does seem like a lot, but this makes it extra creamy tasting. If you want more of a peanut butter flavor, you can get away with only adding 8 oz. It's up to you, but I always use the whole 16oz and it's like a peanut butter ice cream in a graham cracker crust. 🙂
