Chocolate chip banana bread

Super moist and absolutely deliciously sweet banana bread made in one bowl with chocolate chips! It's perfect for breakfast, a snack, or dessert.

Banana bread by itself is a delicious snack or even a great breakfast idea, but what's really great is that you can add lots of different things to it to make it fun and unique! Take for instance my pineapple banana bread recipe, you can make it tropical by adding pineapples.

How do you keep banana bread from drying out?

Banana bread is known for being moist, and melt-in-your-mouth delicious! That's why it's important to keep your cooked chocolate chip banana bread wrapped in plastice wrap.

If you leave it out, it will get stale a lot faster!

What ingredients do you need to make Chocolate Chip Banana Bread?

  • 4 small/medium banannas (starting to go brown)
  • ½ cup salted butter (melted)
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup chocolate chips

How to make chocolate chip banana bread?

Pre-heat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit before you start making your chocolate chip banana bread. Then, in a large mixing bowl, add your bananas. Mix on medium low speed just enough so that the bananas are good and mashed up.

adding bananas and melted butter to a mixing bowl

In a microwave safe bowl, melt the butter before adding it to the bananas. Beat for about 2 minutes before adding the brown sugar and granulated sugar. Then mix this banana mixture well for another 2 minutes.

adding brown sugar to the mixing bowl

After the sugars have been combined, add in your eggs and vanilla.

adding egg to the mixing bowl

Beat for about a minute and then add in your baking soda. If you have been seen some of my other recipes, you will know that I tend to add in the baking soda before the flour. This lets the baking soda get good and mixed throughout the entire batter. Finally, add in the flour ½ cup at a time. Mix after each addition. Some flour may stick to the sides of the bowl, so use a rubber spatula to scrape that back into the batter.

adding chocolate chips to the mixing bowl

Then pour in your chocolate chips and mix these with your rubber spatula. You can then spray a loaf pan with some Pam non-sticking spray and then pour your chocolate chip banana bread batter in.

Finally, you can place your loaf pan filled with batter onto a cookie sheet to prevent any messes in your oven. Bake this chocolate chip banana bread in the oven for 55-60 minutes or until the center of the bread comes out clean with a toothpick. Also, rotate your chocolate chip banana bread half-way through cooking so that each side is nice and golden brown. After this bread is finished cooking, let it cool for at least 30 minutes to prevent burns.

Being super healthy eater, I modified this recipe with excellent results!
    I doubled the recipe also.
Instead of white flour, I put organic oat flakes in my Vitamix to blend to flour consistency.
I added 1/2 cup swerve, 1/2 cup coconut sugar.
I did NOT double the butter...one stick was enough.
    4 large bananas was plenty.
2 eggs, 2 egg whites... trying to avoid yolks.
Added 1 cup of chopped walnuts.
Sprinkled extra dark chocolate chips on the top.
Placed it in a lasagna pan. Baked 55 min. VOILA Super great.
    Thank you!

There is nothing better than a good banana bread and adding chocolate chips makes it perfect. I used to make a banana chocolate chip cake for my kids birthdays always in the number of their age. I covered it with chocolate and even had the adults get stuck into it happily. Will try yours!
