Theses simple little squares pack a huge punch of flavor especially due to one ingredient...brown butter. They will quickly become one of your favorite desserts!
Start out by first adding the butter to a small frying pan or sauce pan. Then, on medium heat and stirring occasionally, the butter will start to melt. Then, it will begin to foam. When it just starts to turn brown under the foam, remove it from the heat.
Then, pre-heat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
Pour the browned butter (see step 1) into a large mixing bowl. Add in the brown sugar and mix until creamy.
Then, add in your egg and vanilla extract. Mix until just combined for about 2 minutes.
Next, you will add the baking powder and mix for 15 seconds before adding in your flour. When you have mixed your flour in, you can then pour in ½ cup of butterscotch chips.
Fold (mix) these in gently with a rubber spatula and then pour the batter into a lightly greased 9x9 baking dish.
Sprinkle the remaining ¼ cup butterscotch chips onto the top of the batter. Then, bake for 24-26 minutes or until the edges are starting to brown and a toothpick comes out clean.
If you like a thicker butterscotch blondie, use an 8x8 baking dish.
