How to be be a happier mom
Are you struggling to find your happiness? Are you overwhelmed by everything, and are constantly losing your cool?
If you answered yes, then chances are you need to make some life changes.
Here’s a brief look at the changes you can make to become happier:
- Determine what sets you off, and makes you get angry
- Practice self care
- Listen to more music
1. Determine what makes you mad
The best way to stop getting mad, and be a happy mom is to figure out what it is that sets you off. When you know what makes you lose your cool, you can avoid situations that would trigger it.
For instance, if you are getting angry because your kids keep messing with the same thing over and over agian, do yourself a HUGE favor and just move the damn thing!
If it’s in their reach, they are going to have a hard time reasoning with why they can’t play with it.
Here are some other possible triggers that are making you angry:
- kids not listening
- toddlers throwing a tantrum
- your kids not sharing with each other
- having a bossy *cough* spoiled child
- not having any me time
- not getting enough adult interaction and having meaningful conversations (because arguments over why you have to go to bed don’t count)
- toddler not going to bed, or being more defiant
The list could literally go on for decades…but that’s besides the point.
Avoiding these trigger situations
Sometimes it’s just inevitable, but 0ther times you can help yourself by changing your surrounding or routine.
If you aren’t getting enough me time or just alone time, get up before your kids do!
Set a bed time that still means you can have some interaction and conversation with your husband when your kids are “sleeping”. I use quotations because they won’t be sleeping…more like trying to sneak out of bed and play some more.
2. Practice self-care so you can maintain some sort of sanity
Being surrounded by little people all day is great until it isn’t. Some times you just need to unwind and do something for yourself.
I have a great list of self-care ideas if you are unsure what to do!
3. Listen to more music, seriously!
When you are listening to music, it’s hard to be mad. Make sure that the music is dance-worthy so that you can get up forget your troubles, even for a few minutes!
Whenever I am getting frustrated or feel myself about to lose my cool, I turn on some of my favorite music! It helps more than you think it will!!
4. Exercise makes you happy
Exercising helps increase your endorphins which are a chemical in your brain that makes you happy! No science lesson, just good to know. 🙂
Making tme for some light to moderate exercise will work wonders on your mood.
That’s really all there is too it! Know what makes you mad, so you can try to avoid being in that particular position. If it’s unavoidable, then make sure you are still making time to mentally recharge, listen to more music, and exercise!
Although motherhood is hard, you can still be a good mom and a happy mom.
